One of my comfort drawings of Itimeir and Katamenos <3
Soooo the story behind is that Katamenos was never strong - his fatass was additionally injured his whole life - he wasn't able to walk that properly, his cane was not only a fashion accessory after all.... Even in his afterlife, Katamenos walked like an old fuck. His cane was taken away for few days and he truly felt so self-conscious about it... But then Itimeir was nice enough to give it back to him lol.
But yeah, Itimeir knew that Katamenos isn't very strong and overall.... Not muscular. And he was okay with that - I'm pretty sure he even liked it.... I mean.... hm........ hmm.......... can't blame him....
But Katamenos felt self-conscious still. Not only due to his injuries and lack of strength, but also because of his body and that was also the reason why in his lifetime he tended to use male corsets outside of his military general uniform in a secret (goofy ahh). Additionally it was the reason why he was afraid of any intimate scenarios. Despite wanting it so bad, whenever he and Itimeir were so close, he ran away from it, leaving his partner alone in a room. It all drove Itimeir (who is hypersexual as we all know) to madness, finding the fault in his own self, by thinking he's not pretty enough for Katamenos and that he should dress up more for him and be nicer... That all he does is be useless, because his partner cannot show him "love".
Katamenos was just so terrified of intimacy and sex... Being seen naked was enough of a struggle for him already, but it was just... Everything.
In later events when Katamenos gets better mentally and a part of his journey was trying to get some other friends outside of just... Itimeir. Yeah. Itimeir was the only person that he had in his life, his mind and in all of his notebooks full of diary entries, poems, etc. His afterlife was just Itimeir, who he followed like a dog, fearing being left alone with his own thoughts.
Itimeir knew it and was actually the one to tell his partner to "go outside and meet some other creatures... That aren't demons" (LMAO BLUD KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING). So Katamenos finally decided to do something for Itimeir and went to Talsos - there he actually made few of friends and one particular dude encouraged him to take care of himself. Later on, the same dude got Katamenos the outfit that he has in his drawing and this one and this one.
I guess this is a small reference I did for it.
And with that Katamenos actually lost weight and stuff... He also got his injury mostly recovered (not naturally lil bro lmao, we all know who helped him... The little miss of Talsos... Ah Fysylis....). He wasn't "buff", but he was strong enough to lift Itimeir up and THAT'S THE DRAWING!!!!11!!!!!
But to continue a bit further, him taking care of his body and such made him more confident with himself. To add on top, Katamenos also was getting better mentally, which also boosted his self-esteem and awareness about his behavior. This is where their relationship peaked and while Itimeir wasn't perfect, Katamenos learnt to accommodate himself and learn from his partner on how to feel safe in one's sexuality.
